XLR Announces the Release of the ENVY™ Rifle Chassis System

XLR, a leading U.S. manufacturer of custom rifle chassis and components, is proud to announce the release of the ENVY™ precision rifle chassis. The feature-rich ENVY™ was developed from the ground up through years of cooperation with some of the best shooters in the world.

The ENVY™ rifle chassis has a base weight of 35 oz (without buttstock or grip) and will initially be available for the Remington 700 short action and clones. The sleek, one-piece design is constructed from rigid 6061-T6 aluminum for an ultimate balance of lightness and durability. A multi-point radial cut inlet allows the receiver to sit in the chassis stress-free for the utmost in accuracy (no V-block). As with all XLR chassis, the ENVY™ is a direct bolt-on application with no gunsmithing or setup required by the user.

Unique to the ENVY™ is the integrated, Arca-Swiss™ style 1.5” dovetail mount on the forend. This allows the chassis to be used with a camera tripod. Having the mount integrated ensures that it will never come loose during strings of fire. It also allows for a longer dovetail than a traditional bolt-on adapter would, which provides for more versatility in balancing the rifle by sliding it forward and aft.

The integrated detachable magazine system allows the use of AICS style magazines. A new style of magwell features a larger, tapered opening for faster magazine changes and has an angled, serrated face that can serve as a barricade stop. In addition, the ENVY™ also features an integrated 5.5” picatinny rail located on the bottom of the handguard as well as five strategically placed QD sling sockets. An integrated bubble level keeps cant issues in check. The M-LOK™ compatible handguard allows the shooter the option to custom-tailor the chassis with M-LOK™ accessories.

September 11, 2001 the United States of America lost nearly 3000 of our citizens.  This loss came at the hands of a group who’s only intention was to hurt America and American families.

What our attackers didn’t realize is the loss of 3000 would immediately strengthen over 300 million to become stronger, smarter, and more united.  As Isoroku Yamamoto stated “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.” 

Today more than ever America is being threatened and we need to remember and reflect on the loss of 3000 moms, dads, children, brothers, sisters and friends not only to honor them but to carry their on their legacy as proud free Americans.

We owe it to the 3000 to carry on, pursue our dreams, and live life to the fullest as they can no longer.  We also owe it to those 3000 to continue to build a united, proud and free country.

Today please take a moment to remember the nearly 3000 Americans who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.  In addition, recognize and thank the men and women of our armed forces who give all to keep us safe and allow us our freedoms.

One of the upgrades that many shooters leverage is an upgraded aftermarket stock.  In a previous post we detailed the feature’s that this shooter is looking for which are drop-in-fit, full length bedding block, pistol grip,  free-floating barrel, immediately available, and not too expensive.  The Choate Tactical Stock fit the bill and the decision was made.

The rifle is a Savage 10 Hog Hunter in .223.  The Hog Hunter ships with an economical stock better known as the “Tupperware” stock.  The stock does have bedded pillars but is too flexible for reliable repeatable groups.    Some Savage rifles have the Accustock which will have three action screws.  The Savage Target Actions will also have three actions screws.  The Hog Hunter has two action screws.  This installation will focus on Savage actions that have two screws however we will try to address the three screws actions where we can.

A recent trip landed me in the country of New Zealand.  If you haven’t been, add it to “the bucket list”, it’s wonderful place.  I visited  some of the major cities as well as some of the more popular islands and tourist spots.  Simply put, New Zealand has it all, ports, cities, beaches, vineyards, mountains, rain forest, volcanoes, fertile farm lands, and the list goes on.  Travelling this lush country, the feeling of vulnerability would come and go.  Vulnerable not because of the people or landscape but because this gorgeous country has a very small military protecting it.  Having roughly the same square miles of Colorado,  and a relativity sparse population,  having a smaller military is understandable, however it simply renewed my pride in the US Armed Forces.

No disrespect to New Zealand intended, especially not their service men and woman, but if a hostile country decides that they would like this gem in their portfolio, without help from friendlies, New Zealand wouldn’t stand a chance.

Arriving back in the states the realization of what our Veterans have accomplished over the course of US history is something to be very, very, proud of.  Our Veterans have sacrificed all to keep our land sacred and free.  They have not only protected the homeland  but have traveled far and away to ensure we stay the “home of the brave, and the land of the free”.

Our Veterans allow us peace that not all of us quite understand.  This “peace” most of us have and will take for granted.  This peace is knowing that if and when an adversary chooses to threaten our land and/or freedoms our Veterans have and will step up and unselfishly sacrifice all for you, for me, and for our country.

Tomorrow is a special day for our Veterans.  It’s a day that year after year seems to be a little less celebrated and a little less important.  It can only be because we have been spoiled with freedom for so long that we truly do not understand how much our Veterans have and will give up to continue to provide us with the land and freedom that we so easily take for granted.

Watch the storming of Omaha beach on D-Day in Saving Private Ryan, if you have a few more minutes watch We Were Soldiers,  or spend a weekend watching Band of Brothers.    Then from the comfort of your couch try to understand what our Veterans have done for us and why Veterans Day is so important and should never be minimized.  As we know Hollywood isn’t always an accurate depiction of events, but these films will remind you of the sacrifices made and those continuing to be made. After watching one or more of these films ask yourself, is it that difficult to go out of your way to simply say, “thank you for your service”?

Let us not forget and honor our Veterans today, tomorrow, forever.

September 11, 2001.   The day that  forever changed the United Sates of America.  It’s been 12-years and it’s so easy to move on and forget the impact that day had on all of us.  For some  it’s easier, or should it be said less painful, to forget than to remember.

We lost many great lives that day.  128 companies lost employees. 3,051 children lost their mom or dad or both.  1,609 people lost a husband or wife.   We also lost heroes, lots of them.  We lost 343 firefighters and paramedics and over 60 police officers.

American stopped and watched as the terror unfolded and the towers fell.  Loss of American life was painfully obvious that day.  What hasn’t been so obvious are the numbers of heroes that we’ve lost post 9/11.  We have lost over 6,600 service men and women and over 50,000 have been injured and sadly, the number continues to grow.

For those of you who don’t know the image above is the service flag of the Blue Star Mothers of America.  The above service flag indicates a mother whom has two children in active service in a war.

My mother-in-law has proudly displayed her service flag of two stars in the front window of her home, in the rear window of her car, and on her lapel now for almost 12-years.  The day she retires her service flag will be a true blessing.

The service flag is a reminder that there are brave unselfish Americans in harm’s way fighting every day to keep 9/11 from ever happening again.  12-years later there are still children longing to see mom or dad, husbands missing wives and wives missing husbands, and parents fearful for their children.  9/11 impacted us all and continues to impact many.

For September 11, 2013 there are many ways to “never forget” and pay your respects.

Starting at 8:46 a.m. (1246 GMT) there will be a moment of silence in observance of the time American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower, followed by another at 9:03 a.m. (1303 GMT) when United Airlines Flight 175 struck the South Tower.

Further moments of silence will be observed at 9:37 a.m. (1337 GMT), when American Airlines Flight 77 hit the Pentagon; at 9:59 a.m. (1359 GMT) when the South Tower fell; at 10:03 a.m. (1403 GMT) when United Flight 93 hit the ground near Shanksville; and at 10:28 a.m. (1428 GMT) when the North Tower collapsed.

Please take a moment and remember the lives we’ve lost and pray for our men and women of our armed services who continue to fight for our safety and freedoms.

We will not forget, we will remember, and we thank you for your service.
